Biography of Barry Jay Magarick

Mr. Magarick is President and founder of Magarick Advertising, a Philadelphia advertising and marketing agency founded in 1971. The agency provides services for radio, television, outdoor, and print media. It writes, creates and produces broadcast commercials and print advertising. It plans and purchases media and also specializes in media barter.

In addition Magarick Advertising performs pro bono work for a number of non-profit organizations, including The Civil War and Underground Railroad Museum, the Union League of Philadelphia and Boys Town of Jerusalem.

Mr. Magarick serves on the Board of Directors of the Abramson Center for Jewish Living (Formally Philadelphia Geriatric Center), the national and regional boards of Boys Town Jerusalem, and The Civil War and Underground Railroad Museum. He is active on several committees of the Union League of Philadelphia.

His interests include The Civil War, historic preservation and restoration, magic, and scuba diving. During the mid-70's he hosted a WCAU AM, a CBS radio program, entitled Psychic World. After graduating from college, he spent several years traveling abroad and lived in Israel where he worked as a writer for El Al Israel airlines. When he returned to the United States he worked as communication director for El Al in New York, Monitored Systems - an Aerospace Company, and as promotion director of WPHL TV channel 17.

He graduated Temple University with a degree in Communications. He is married to Rochelle and they have a son, Joshua. The Magaricks live in an 1836 historically certified center city townhouse, and are avid collectors of American and European antiques, playing cards, and art.
